Velasca

Our opinion

Updated: August 2021

What we like about Velasca:

- The shapes are well balanced . They are generally quite round: interesting for people with stronger insteps or who fear pointy shoes which give a "big feet" effect.

- All shoes are made in Italy , in Montegranaro.

- The range is varied : there are many different models. Some very classic and others more original (for example the “Icon” derby or the “Opera Pump” moccasins).

What we like least about Velasca:

- The leathers used are a step below some competitors. Also be careful with shiny leathers , which are shiny and plasticized. These leathers have advantages (good water resistance in particular) but are not the most noble and durable available.

- The brand uses so-called Blake Rapid stitching, which is less robust than Goodyear stitching.

The overall quality remains quite correct for the asking price, around €200.

We recommend Velasca if you are sensitive to the style and shapes offered by the brand. If you are not more convinced than that, you will find other brands that you will like in the same price segment.

Updated November 2023: The brand's prices have increased over the past two years. A pair currently costs around €350. Prices have increased for other brands too, but perhaps a little less. So, if the style remains interesting, the question arises a little more about the purchase compared to other brands in this price niche.
