Our opinion

Brut Clothing is atypical.

Let's talk about it, in three points.

1. Vintage thrift store

The main activity is to find and make available vintage clothing , mainly workwear and military inspired.

The selection is varied . The heart of the selection is made up of jackets, shirts and pants. But you will also find sweaters, sneakers, t-shirts, bandanas, glasses, etc.

What sets Brut apart from other second-hand clothes:

- A precise and demanding curation : only pieces in good or very good condition are sold and which have their place in a contemporary urban wardrobe.

- An eshop generous in content : the clothes are well highlighted through the outfits offered. Measurements are given for the majority of products.

You have to keep in mind that yesterday's clothes do not necessarily have cuts that correspond to today's standards : at the bottom, the pants are loose. At the top, the sleeves tend to be short. Hence the interest in having measurements on the eshop, or being able to try, if you go to their store.

Regarding the prices, they are a little higher than those of other thrift stores. This is explained by the work of curation and creation of content around the pieces. At Brut, the shopping and browsing experience is better than elsewhere.

For pants, count on average €60 to €100. Some models exceed €200: they are rare pieces.

2. Clothing stamped Brut

Since 2019, we have found clothing labeled Brut.

They can be classified into two categories:

- "by Brut" is made up of clothes created by Brut. There are pieces from the workwear and military wardrobe: work jackets or sailor sweaters for example.

- The “Rework” range has a different creative approach: It involves reusing old clothing or fabrics. For example, there is a bag made from scraps of fabric from military tents. Or an original French military chino from the 50s whose cut has been reworked to better match current standards. We commonly speak of upcycling to describe this type of approach.

All Brut-branded clothing is made (or upcycled) in France.

The prices of clothing in the Brut range are placed in a mid/high-end niche: the price of beautiful materials (and the work to find them) as well as French tailoring.

3. Archive Showroom

Finally, one last activity which does not necessarily concern the general public but which we can still quickly mention: Brut has a showroom of rare archive clothing.

You cannot buy these pieces: they are only available for rental, for example for a brand shoot, or for a fashion designer who would like to draw inspiration from them.

In conclusion, we recommend what Brut offers , especially if you want to add an authentic, military, workwear touch to your wardrobe.
