KINVARA [kin.va.ʁa] n. m.
def: long, straight, belted Balmacaan-type coat in exclusive donegal tweed, which we first offered in 2023. This piece was acclaimed for the style it gives you and the rare texture of its fabric, giving it a quick sell-out. Since then, we've received numerous requests to know if it will return, in what form and when.
Here are the answers to those burning questions.
Is the Kinvara coat coming back?
Yes !
And because you loved the donegal tweed we used on its initial version, we're bringing it back this season in the same material, in a new color.
So it's still an exclusive donegal tweed, a dense, rustic fabric of carded wool, specially created for us by Molloy&Sons and woven in the Ardara region of Ireland, in the heart of County Donegal.
Due to the exclusivity of this material and the artisanal process of its weaving, we were able to produce a limited quantity of 200 coats, and we won't be able to make more for this season.
(Re)discover the story of this family weaver in this video, shot in 2021:
Its starting point is a fabric with alternating stripes, arranged in checks, available in their range. We chose it and enriched it with irregular, colorful flecking in shades of sky blue, yellow, red and violet, for texture and a rare visual richness.
The blue color is rich and deep. It alternates between shades of midnight blue and ink blue, bringing variety and warmth to a classic plain, dark navy, while being very easy to wear.
It's a thick, warm fabric, rare on the market, with a reassuring density (465-485g/m2) that remains supple and therefore comfortable.
In short, we've taken up the formula you liked so much about the first version. And we're proud of this material, because it stands out (and sets you apart) from the other wool sheets we usually see. Nevertheless, given the look you'll get with this coat on your shoulders, expect compliments.
Have you made any changes to the shape or cut?
The Kinvara doesn't change!
The shape and cut are the same as on the first version.
So you'll always find :
- A comfortable straight cut, offering you numerous layering possibilities. And there's no risk of having a coat that's too wide here, thanks to the integrated (and removable) waistband that marks out your waist and structures your silhouette,
- A generous, knee-length coverage. Enough to savor the pleasure of wearing a majestic coat that drapes beautifully around you.
But also:
- Comfortable raglan sleeves that add a touch of nonchalance to your winter outfits,
- A nicely proportioned shirt collar, which we invite you to wear turned up for acool, almost casual touch.
As well as:
- A hidden throat front fastened with horn buttons to fully express the beauty of this material,
- Two large flap pockets on the outside for character, and two on the inside: one zipped for a phone or wallet, the other in mesh for a hat or gloves.
Our sizing recommendation: take this coat in your usual size (really) and enjoy the comfort of its straight cut, which isn't oversized for all that.
Here's the size guide:
When is it available?
The new blue Kinvara coat is out this Saturday, December 6 at 9:30 am (UTC+1)
You'll find one coat by size in all our stores this Saturday, so you can try it on. You can then order it on our e-shop.
A total of 200 pieces will be available for sale, and there will be no restock.
And that's not all: the anise yellow Matera sweater joins the party
We're rounding off this year-end launch with a colorful variation on the much-loved Matera sweater.
In addition to the khaki color, already available, this season we're offering our trucker-neck sweater in a soft anise-yellow shade, which the more inquisitive among you will surely have already spotted on the grey Montmartre coat product page.
This yellow color, slightly tending towards green, stands out without overdoing it, thanks to a soft, pastel-like hue that brings it closer to a beige or ecru sweater.
It pairs perfectly with deep colors like navy, black, brown, anthracite or forest green. Wear it with white pants, black shoes and a colorful accessory like a light-blue scarf.
Still knitted in the same soft, compact extra-fine merino wool yarn from Italy's Tollegno, its generous weight of almost 1kg on the scale and collar that rises high on the neck keep you warm in these chilly times.
Like the Kinvara coat, the Matera anise sweater will be available this Saturday, December 6 at 9:30 am.
